Plied / Twisted Yarn

Plied / Twisted Yarn — Sewing thread · embroidery · weaving warp/weft · crepe/georgette/voile · high-strength/industrial fabrics · upholstery. Higher linear density; averages out irregularities; higher twist → more compact, smoother, lustrous, better abrasion/pilling resistance.
This yarn comes not from a single product but from an operation: two singles twisted together. Two constructions are in production — 75/72 two-ply (147–150 denier) and 100/144 two-ply (197–200 denier). Plying doubles linear density, averages out irregularities in the singles and tightens the surface; the result is a structure that pills less, prints a cleaner pattern and holds its dimensions better. It is used in sewing thread, embroidery, weaving warp and high-tenacity fabrics. Twist level (T/m) and direction (S/Z) are set per order; balanced twist — ply twist opposite to the single twist — prevents kinking.

| Strength | Higher linear density; averages out irregularities; higher twist → more compact, smoother, lustrous, better abrasion/pilling resistance. |
| Watch for | For continuous-filament polyester, strength is highest near zero twist and falls as twist rises; unbalanced plying kinks; high twist reduces cover. |
