Knitted Fabric Supplier for UK Brands
Fersan Tekstil is a vertically integrated polyester knitting and dyeing mill in Çorlu, Türkiye — from our own texturised filament through knitting, dyeing and finishing, at roughly 750 tonnes a month since 1982.
Since the UK left the EU customs union, one piece of paperwork changed in a way that still catches buyers out. The A.TR movement certificate that clears Turkish goods into the European Union in free circulation does not apply to imports into the United Kingdom. What governs a UK import from Türkiye is the UK–Türkiye trade agreement, and preference is claimed with a EUR.1 movement certificate or an origin declaration on the invoice, subject to the agreement’s product-specific rules of origin. It is a small administrative difference with a real cost attached if the wrong document travels with the goods.
That matters here more than it would elsewhere, because knitted fabric is one of the categories where origin is determined by where the knitting happens rather than by where the raw polymer came from. We texturise our own filament and knit, dye and finish in a single mill, so the manufacturing steps that establish origin all occur at one address and can be documented from source. The exact rule that applies to your commodity code should still be confirmed with your broker before the first order — we will supply whatever the declaration needs.
On the fabric itself, we are deliberately narrow about where we are the better answer. The UK still has genuine knitting capacity, and mills here hold stock and ship cut lengths in days — if that is what your production needs, buy it there. What we do is made-to-order production: a colour approved by lab-dip, a single dye lot carried across a programme, and certified recycled content with the transaction certificate to evidence it. That last point is worth saying plainly, because most UK results for recycled polyester fabric are resellers of somebody else’s certified yarn. We knit rPET ourselves and hold the scope certificate.

Where a UK stockist beats us — and where we beat a stockist
A UK stock house holding eight million metres will get twenty metres to your sampling room this week. We cannot do that and will not pretend otherwise. What a stock house cannot do is knit your weight in your colour, hold one dye lot across a full production run, and put a GRS transaction certificate against the recycled content. Those are different businesses serving different points in a product’s life. The useful question is not which supplier is better but which problem you currently have.
Recycled polyester with evidence attached
We hold a GRS 4.0 and RCS 2.0 scope certificate issued by Control Union under IOAS accreditation, covering knitting, dyeing, finishing, preparation, spinning and trading. A scope certificate proves the mill is certified; it does not prove your goods contain what the label claims. The document that does that is the transaction certificate, issued against a specific order, and we issue it on request. If you are building a claim that has to survive a retailer audit or an environmental-claims challenge, that distinction is the whole point.
Test standards and quality reporting
Colour is approved by lab-dip before bulk. Dimensional stability through washing, colour fastness and pilling are reported per order rather than asserted in general terms. If your brand works to a specific test protocol, send it and we will produce to it — working to European sports and apparel brands’ test standards is the normal condition of our production, not a special arrangement.

Frequently asked questions
How many rolls fit in a 40' container?
It depends on the roll/carton size and weight. A 40' container offers ≈ 67.57 m³ and a 26,600 kg payload limit; the tool divides those by your box volume and weight, then takes the smaller. For a 0.072 m³, 20 kg carton that is an estimated 938 units.
What is the difference between a 20' and a 40'?
A 20' container carries ≈ 33.14 m³ / 28,200 kg, a 40' ≈ 67.57 m³ / 26,600 kg. The 40' gives roughly double the volume but a similar payload limit — so for heavy cartons the binding limit is often weight, not volume.
Why choose a 40' HC?
A 40' HC (High Cube) is 30 cm taller than a standard 40' (2.69 m interior height), giving ≈ 76.04 m³. It is preferred for light but bulky fabric rolls because it allows one more stacking layer.
Why is the result estimated?
The calculation assumes simple stacking; actual loading varies with pallet size, carton orientation, stacking pattern and door clearance. Contact us for an exact load plan and shipping quote.
Fabric development, not just a catalogue
Weight, composition and finish are adapted to the garment; the structures below are the usual starting points rather than a fixed range. Antimicrobial, UV-protection (UPF) and water-repellent finishes are applied per order and documented with test reports. Quotation requests are answered within two business days.

Does the A.TR certificate still work for imports into the UK?
No. A.TR is a document of the EU–Türkiye customs union and applies to imports into the European Union. Since the UK left that customs union, imports from Türkiye fall under the UK–Türkiye trade agreement, where preference is claimed with a EUR.1 movement certificate or an origin declaration on the invoice, subject to the agreement’s rules of origin. Sending A.TR with a UK-bound shipment does not secure preferential treatment.
Can you supply GRS-certified recycled polyester and actually prove the content?
Yes. We hold a GRS 4.0 and RCS 2.0 scope certificate from Control Union under IOAS accreditation, and we issue a transaction certificate against a specific order on request. The scope certificate shows the mill is certified; the transaction certificate is what evidences the recycled content in your goods, and it is the document a retailer audit will ask for.
We already buy from a UK stockist. Why would we change?
For sampling and short cut lengths, you probably should not — a UK stock house will serve you faster than any mill abroad. The case for buying direct starts when you need a specific weight and colour knitted for you, one dye lot across a production run, or certified recycled content with documentation. Many brands do both: stock for development, mill-direct for bulk.
What is the minimum order and the lead time?
Minimum order is in the region of 500–1,000 kg per colour depending on the fabric, and typical lead time is 3–4 weeks from order confirmation to dispatch. The exact figures are confirmed with your quotation. The ordering table above shows the terms we actually quote, not marketing ranges.
Do you work with garment manufacturers as well as brands?
Both. Brands generally come to us for development and then nominate us to their maker; garment manufacturers come to us with a specification already fixed. Either route works — what changes is who approves the lab-dip and who holds the order.
