Yarn Manufacturing Programme
Cationic-dyeable polyester takes colour in the same bath as regular polyester but from a different dye class. Fersan spins this yarn on its own texturing line; because yarn and dyehouse sit under one roof, the cross-dyeing recipe is developed together with the yarn batch.
Cationic-dyeable polyester (CDP) is made by copolymerising a third monomer — usually sulphoisophthalate — into the PET chain. The sulphonate sites this introduces bind cationic (basic) dyes that regular polyester cannot hold. The result is a colour capability opened by a single production decision: in one fabric, regular polyester takes the disperse dye while the cationic yarn takes the cationic dye, and two distinct tones come out of one bath.
That means two-tone, melange and reserve (dye-resist) effects without a second dyeing step. This is where the commercial value of cross-dyeing sits: the effect comes from fabric structure and yarn choice, not from added process cost.
The cost is visible in the technical table and is not hidden: because copolymerisation disrupts the regularity of the chain, tenacity of 2.3–3.0 cN/dtex is the lowest in our catalogue and boiling-water shrinkage reaches 7.0. Production covers 50/72 and 75/72; coarse filaments and the 100 and 150 denier ranges are not available in this family.

How much cationic yarn is used, and in what structure, follows from the tone separation you are aiming for; both fibres in the same fabric have to reach the required fastness in the right bath. Colours are approved by lab-dip, and fastness and dimensional stability are reported per order. Quotation requests are answered within 2 business days.

CDP is dyed at high temperature and pressure (HTHP); ECDP is the lower-temperature variant, preferred in fabrics containing elastane in order to protect the elastane. Which one fits depends on the fabric composition and the dyehouse regime.
Yes. Regular polyester binds the disperse dye and the cationic yarn binds the cationic dye; the two dye classes can work together in one bath. What matters is that both fibres reach the required fastness in the same recipe — which is why the recipe is developed together with the yarn batch.
Introducing a third monomer disrupts the regular structure of the polymer, and the price is paid in strength. Tenacity of 2.3–3.0 cN/dtex is the lowest band in our catalogue. That is a consequence of the chemistry rather than a defect, and machine tension is set accordingly.
Production covers 50/72 and 75/72. Coarse-filament constructions and the 100 and 150 denier ranges are not part of this family; if a two-tone effect is needed in those bands, we propose a solution through fabric structure.
Cationic dyeability and recycled feedstock are separate decisions; combining them is assessed on request. Where a recycled claim is required, GRS 4.0 / RCS 2.0 chain of custody applies.
