Yarn Manufacturing Programme

Microfilament Polyester Yarn Manufacturer — Türkiye

Microfilament is the name of a threshold: below roughly 1.0 denier per filament. Our programme holds three constructions under that line, and the finest of them, at 0.52 dpf, is the thinnest fibre in our catalogue.

What makes a yarn microfilament is not its total denier but how many filaments that denier is divided into. Split 150 denier over 48 filaments and each fibre stays thick; split the same 150 denier over 288 and each one drops to roughly a sixth of that thickness. Peach-skin and suede-like surfaces, silky drape and high cover all come out of that fineness.

The second consequence of fineness is surface area. Because the same mass is spread over far more filaments, the fibre-to-air interface grows; this strengthens capillary moisture transport and lets the surface dry faster. That is why microfilament is the yarn of choice in moisture-managing fabrics.

The cost is paid in two places, and we do not hide either. In the dyehouse: reaching the same shade depth takes more dyestuff and more careful reductive clearing. On the machine: single-filament strength drops, so tension control becomes critical. The three constructions run in the 50, 100 and 150 denier bands, each sharing the technical window of its denier group.

The fineness target is set together with the fabric

Which dpf is right is decided alongside the hand and weight you are aiming for; the finest yarn is not always the best yarn. The dye recipe and the heat-setting window are adjusted to the chosen construction — and because yarn and dyehouse sit under one roof, those two variables are managed together. Quotation requests are answered within 2 business days.

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is the microfilament line drawn?

The common convention is below roughly 1.0 denier per filament. The three constructions in this programme run between 0.52 and 0.69 dpf; constructions around 1.04 dpf such as 75/72 and 100/96 stay just above the line and belong to the standard textured programme.

What is the minimum order?

Between 500 and 1,000 kg per colour; the exact figure depends on the construction and the shade and is confirmed with the quotation. Because shade depth affects the recipe in microfilament, a trial lot is recommended.

What should we watch in dyeing?

The increased surface area scatters more light, so more dyestuff is needed for the same visual depth. Clearing the unfixed dye from the surface by reductive washing is critical for fastness — without it, rub fastness falls.

Is it harder to run on the machine?

Single-filament strength is lower, so the tension window narrows and positive feed settings matter more. The right intermingle level prevents filament separation; the level is chosen together against your knitting speed.

Is recycled microfilament possible?

Our recycled (rPET) programme does not include the finest microfilament constructions — 144 and 288 filaments. The finest option in rPET is 96 filaments; where a micro hand and a recycled claim are both required, we work the solution through fabric structure.

Which fabrics use it?

Moisture-managing sportswear knits, soft-touch outerwear, microfibre cleaning and home textiles, and lining programmes. For the fabric counterpart of the same construction, see our microfibre polyester fabric programme.
