Polyester Scuba — TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
Weight200–400 g/m² (5.9–11.8 oz/yd²)

In family: 80–400 g/m² · 6 fabrics

CompositionPolyester base + elastane; typically 5–10% elastane (roughly 90–95% polyester). THERE IS NO FOAM CORE: this is a single-piece knitted scuba. The bonded fabric-foam-fabric “neoprene-look” version is a lamination product and is not part of this programme.
Knit typeScuba double knit · Interlock
Use classOuter / structured
Stretch4-way stretch
KnitA smooth double-face fabric knit on a double bed in a dense loop arrangement, with elastane fed into the structure. Ponte’s faint horizontal rib is absent here; the body comes from the knit itself, not from a bonded layer.
HandFull yet springy; a smooth, matte, non-slippery face. It pushes back slightly under pressure and snaps back after stretch. The pebbled-face cloth sold as “scuba crepe” is a SEPARATE quality and usually lighter; this item is the smooth-faced one.
Typical useStructured dresses/skirts/blazers · bodysuits and shapewear panels · sport-fusion tops
StrengthA smooth, four-way-stretch body that takes shape from the pattern and holds it — the base for precise, seam-driven design.
Watch forThe high elastane share is heat-sensitive — keep iron and press temperatures low. Drape is limited at heavy weights and it is not for light summer pieces. Often confused with ponte: ponte is more stable and two-way, scuba springier and four-way.
